Who we are

Beacon Bolton Counselling Service is a well-established counselling service available to anyone over the age of 16. Although originating from a Christian background, we don't have an alliance to any particular church or religious organisation.

Beacon is a registered charity and whilst our main office is at The Bolton Hub, Bold Street, Bolton, where daytime counselling is also held, we offer evening and Saturday morning counselling from the 'Homes for Bolton' building in Silverwell Lane, Bolton.

Clients who refer to Beacon themselves or via a third party will be directed to 1point for an assessment. Our volunteer counsellors may see clients on a variety of weekday / evenings and Saturday mornings, subject to availability. Sessions are one-to-one and last for 50 minutes. Beacon is highly regarded and considered within the North-Western counselling network as a prestigious organisation. The fact that we are staffed by volunteers and are self-funding does not detract from us being totally professional in our administration and procedures. Beacon currently holds full organisational membership of the BACP.

Entry criteria for counsellors are extremely high. Here at Beacon we endeavour to engage the highest standard of counsellors to work with our clients. To become a counsellor for Beacon, candidates will only be considered if they either hold a Level 4 Diploma in counselling, hold a Level 3 Certficate in counselling and have been accepted on the Level 4 Diploma Course. Any other equivalent qualifications held will be considered.
